Dick Naas has been a barbershopper for over 50 years mostly in the Northeastern District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He has sung in several quartets starting with the Four Scores in 1967, the NED champs, Anything Goes in 1983, and Ring, a senior quartet in 2004-2006 finishing in the top 10 at the Seniors competition at the mid-winter convention. He has been a Director for much of his barbershop career including the Harmonett’s, a Harmony, Inc. women’s group for seven years winning one International, two-second places, and three other medals. He led several men’s groups, coached and was the Director of Music Education in the NED for eight years. The last twenty years before coming to the East Valley Barbershop Harmonizers, he was the Director of another Harmony, Inc. chapter called A Classic Sound. Other than top ten finishes at International, ACS auditioned for and sang on two cruises, at the White House and at Walt Disney World, and entertained at other venues at least ten times a year. He has a Masters Degree in Communication, and is a Vietnam Veteran. He has always been a teacher and spent twenty years owning and running his own golf-teaching program retiring in 2006 and then moving to Arizona. He is an active Rotarian and President of his HOA in Fountain Hills. He was the Director of the East Valley Barbershop Harmonizers from 2011-2015. He has sung every part in barbershop. Currently he sings baritone in the Tooney Loons quartet.
